Well, I haven't posted anything that looks like an actual update in a long time, so I think you all deserve one. I'm now a tutor with the university. It's my second job...well, sort of my third. My first and best job is cooking at the camp. It's the most fun, and I've just been promoted to lead cook, which means more control, more responsibility, and a raise. My second job is cleaning, also at the camp. It's pretty lame, but it helped me get enough hours when I needed them. I'm happy to report that I've just given notice that I'm done cleaning, so they're advertising for someone new, and within a couple weeks I get to be done cleaning. Sweet! And then tutoring. It's not that exciting, but I'm pretty good at it, and it isn't hard for classes I'm pretty familiar with. Right now I'm tutoring in writing and logic. The tutoring I'm doing in writing is for the school, so it's all official, but I'm tutoring privately in logic, which means I get to set my own rates and get paid under the table after each session. It's so much more gratifying to actually get the cash in hand than to get it as a figure on a check three weeks later.
My cold is gone, mostly. This time I managed to get Chris sick, so apparently it was a legitimate cold and not just persistent allergies.
Now that I'm 21, I still haven't been to a real bar, but I definitely enjoy being able to pick up a six-pack at the grocery store and sit down with a drink after a long day at work. It's very gratifying.
Sarah and
Rachel, you'll be proud to hear that I just used the
SushiMaster to make triangular Seattle rolls. Mmmmm...sushi. It wasn't quite the same, since it was smoked salmon and not fresh, but still tasty.
And, I really need to decide what to be for Halloween. Any ideas?

At church tonight (it's a sort of combination church service/youth group for college-age people), the message invoked an NPR program that started back in the 1950s, called "This I believe." In it, people would state briefly (600 words or less) their most basic or interesting beliefs. After hearing a few members share their essays, we were asked to write our own on a 3x5 card. The cards will be bound into a book for our minister, who is out of town this week. I wrote mine down twice so I could take one home. Here it is.

This I believe...
It's not too late to make new friends, to fall in love, to choose a new career, to let go of what you thought you knew, to embrace truth.
It's not too early either. Be brave, trust God, and jump.
