Um...hi y'all! I'd like to be able to say that the reason I haven't posted is that I've been in Mexico like Sarita or working full time or baking three dozen holiday pies, but that simply isn't true. I've been essentially doing nothing--just watching TV and movies, eating, going for walks, and sleeping. That's about it. It's been great.

Today I am packing up most of my house to move to Ellensburg. I hate packing in general, and I especially hate packing when it means leaving somewhere more or less permanently. We've agreed that I don't have to do it all now, especially since I probably can't do it all now--it won't all fit in Chris's car. Still, it's a major pain. I should be excited that I'll finally be moving in with Chris, but I can't get past being annoyed at having to once again pack all of my belongings into boxes. It will be the eighth time I've moved this year, if I count moving to and from camp, which were incomplete moves.

I just have to brag about my grades because they're the best ones I've gotten since freshman year: all A's! That's right, I pulled off a 4.0 this quarter. How? I'm not questioning it. I know I worked hard this quarter, and I was really disappointed during finals when I thought I wasn't doing so well. Next quarter should be easier.

Chris is now watching the Matrix in my living room waiting for me to finish packing. I should get going on that.

Thank the lord, my finals are all done now. I may finally return to a semi-normal existence.

Nah, probably not.

The drinking started here at lunchtime, so that's probably a pretty good sign of what's to come. Can't get too hammered though, since I work early tomorrow. I love being young and invincible.

P.S.: Hot buttered rum is delicious.

UPDATE, 11:59 p.m.: Okay, so we didn't really get drunk at four in the afternoon. Instead, we watched four hours of television: Home Improvement, Frasier, Simpsons, That 70's Show, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original cartoon version with Boris Karloff), and Scooby-Doo Christmas. This orgy of television was interupted only to venture out to KFC for popcorn chicken. Apparently the healthy living begins tomorrow. And not including the sip of hot buttered rum I had at noon, I didn't start drinking until 9:30, when Kathleen and I went to a birthday party for a friend. I only had three beers and we left before midnight. So I've been a good girl despite my bad intentions.

I am SO freaking tired. Seriously, it's as if the more sleep I get, the more my body realizes it's behind, and wants to sleep even more.

Confidential to my body: knock it off already!

Is this what people on drugs have to deal with all the time? Gah. I can't wait until finals are over. I've been so unhealthy these past two weeks, what with the not-sleeping, then sleeping for three hours in the middle of the day, eating about 8 meals a day, and consuming about a metric ton of chocolate.

Finals Week Update: 4 down, 2 to go
I don't really have much to report except that time keeps moving and I keep (barely) meeting deadlines. I sucked it up pretty badly on my essay test today, but I sort of suspect everyone did, so I'm probably fine. And the last two papers I wrote were pretty freakin' good, so hopefully these will balance out. Now I must go start studying for my comparative government exam, since I'm really behind on studying for it, and go to bed early, since my exam starts at 8:00 am. Grr.

My English paper is done, a full 12 hours ahead of schedule. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had an assignment done this far in advance.

Now I shall sleep, since I have not slept for more than five consecutive hours since Wednesday night, and have not had 8 hours of sleep in any 24-hour period in that same time. I've just set my alarm for 11:00 am, and I really think I may need it. I've been essentially dead on my feet for a couple days now, and I'm finally caught up enough I can sleep.

So sleep I shall!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

Heh. Well, there goes my "posting spree." It's been what, about two weeks since I posted anything besides last Sunday's "I promise to post when I can get around to it" bit? Anyhow, the workload hasn't eased up much but I'm starting to realize that I need a certain amount of sleep, food, showering, and relaxation in order to make it through these next few days alive. So here we will have a very brief update on my past two weeks.

Thanksgiving with my folks was so much fun. My parents are starting to really like Chris, and he's starting to get really comfortable with them too. I baked both pies this year, and directed the hors d'oeuvers. The pecan pie was awesome. We played a lot of Cranium, and we learned that the secret to the success of Team Ninja (Chris, Evan, and I) is definitely Evan and his skill at the acting/performing cards. That's not entirely fair; all three of us contribute certain things--I'm really good at the drawing ones, and Chris is awesome at "sculpteroids", even if he does have to scream out, "I NEED MORE CLAY!!!" in the middle of a clue more often than not. (His defense? "I had to sculpt Europe.") But when Chris and I played against Mom and Dad and against Chris's folks the next day, we definitely lost despite an early lead because we got stuck on a single green square for a dozen or so turns.

I did no homework whatsoever between Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon, and it was glorious. I didn't study, I didn't even dwell on the fact that I wasn't studying. I did nothing, and it was everything I hoped it could be.

Which meant that Sunday night kicked off a week full of writing papers and trying frantically to get back on top of the readings. I mostly failed at this, but my failure would have been far more dramatic if not for the fact that two of my teachers canceled classes and postponed deadlines.

Friday Sarah and I were supposed to go bridesmaid-dress-shopping, but we were too buried in our work, and ended up leaving too late. Undeterred, we went to have dinner with my folks, and Chris met us there. It was such a good fit with the three of us and my family. We watched Survivor (hi-yah! take that, you domineering manipulative whiner!) and the Apprentice ("You weren't really selling a candy bar, were you?" in response to one woman taking off her clothes to bring in more revenue). And of course we played Cranium. Team Estrogen barely eked out a win against Team Testosterone. They were ahead for most of the game.

Saturday was the camp Christmas party. Chris and I got up early and drove to Scott's house. There, we put together a staff annual based on the questionaires staff members had filled out at the end of the summer season. It took us two hours just to type in and format all the responses, and we threw a title page together very quickly. We printed and rushed to Staples, where the ten-page annuals were copied and stapled. The finished product was definitely not what it could have been, but considering how thrown-together it was, it looked pretty good. Then we went to the dollar store so Scott could buy his white-elephant gift (five plastic disc guns) and then drove off at ludicrous speed to camp. We thought we were running really late, but only a dozen people were already there when we arrived. The decorations looked great, and the company was really pleasant. There were significantly fewer people present than past years, but it was a really good group of people. Chris and I were very proud of the gifts we brought: Beach Party Skipper doll, and a box containing a 2-liter bottle each of Mountain Dew and its spinoffs Code Red and Pitch Black. We had really wanted to include Live Wire, even though it tastes funny, so that we'd have the whole set, but we went to three stores and couldn't find it. I guess Pepsi is phasing it out--good decision. Chris and I had high numbers for the gift exchange, so we both got good gifts. Chris got a Mountain Dew in a glass bottle and a pack of Mountain Dew playing cards, and I got a gift pack of an original Wham-O Frisbee, extra-large Marks-a-Lot, large bag of peanut butter M&Ms, and an itty-bitty pocketknife. The pocketknife has a tiny blade, tiny scissors, a nail file, tweezers, and a key ring. It's definitely going on my keys. When most of the people had gone home already, those of us who were left were asked to take down decorations. A past Brinkley COPE director (a friend of mine) was there, and he and I bolted for the rafters to take down the lights and help de-tinsel the tree. That was a blast. It got me excited already for the summer.

After the Christmas Party, Chris and I went back to Scott's place where the three of us played I've Never, followed by Hoopback (another drinking game). We all got pretty drunk and had a really good time. Chris and I spent the night there on the floor, which was rather uncomfortable, but all in all it was a very fun weekend.

And now I'm back here, and should be working on my campaign journal, which is due tomorrow, but instead, I've been playing this game. (Brought to my attention by Sarah, who got it from Katie.) It's very addicting. Seriously, my forearm is getting sore from clenching the mouse. I got to level 14 just now before this enormous stick man broke down the castle gates.

Now, I think it's time to actually get to work. Yes.
