I haven't posted in a really ungodly long time, considering I'm not in school anymore, and to be honest, I haven't even kept up on reading yours. We'll call this the breaking-in period where I prepare you for the seven-week absence that is fast approaching. My summer camp is very technologically advanced compared to other camps (indoor plumbing! woohoo!) but doesn't yet provide internet access to the staff. Tough luck.

Highlights of my last week and a half:
1. Moved out of my apartment. This isn't so much a "highpoint" as a "significant event", but oh well. My cat is mad at me for it.
2. Spent three days on a camping trip at the beach with my best friends from high school. Made phenomenal French toast. Have never made French toast before.
3. Sweet-talked my dad into buying me a new backpack ($22) and Gerber knife ($45) at REI. He agreed, because the backpack he was buying Evan cost $100, and because my old backpack has had a broken strap for a year and a half.
4. Went to the Seattle Art Museum's Van Gogh and Modernism exhibit with my mom. SOOO impressive. I actually gasped out loud on more than one occasion. Then went out for expensive sushi lunch.
5. Got grades back. Politics: A. Literature: A-. Writing: B+. Better than I expected in the latter two classes.
6. Visited favorite high school teachers on last day of class.
7. Parked cars for several hours at fundraiser for Venture Crew (13 hours, 2 days). Saw highlights of Meeker Days, Puyallup's annual street fair and location of the parking (10 minutes). Sunburnt my scalp.
8. Saw Dodgeball with Evan, and laughed for two hours straight. Funniest movie since Old School. Yes, really.

Chris is driving down to visit today, and he's 15 minutes late already, which is not like him. Suspect he's lost.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's so close. I work tomorrow, then have a final on Friday afternoon, then I'm free!

I look forward to spending a lot of time reading, watching movies, and sitting around before I move up to camp full time. I definitely need a break.

Postmodernism is the devil. Seriously.

My writing portfolio is turned in; my Colin Powell presentation is over, and I finally have a topic for the paper that's due Wednesday. I feel like I have a handle on things. I'm working 15 hours this week, and I can't quite decide whether it's a good idea or not, but I can really use the money so I'm doing it. Also, the new Harry Potter movie is freakin' amazing. Makes the shortcomings of the first two obvious (and I loved those). Go see it. Now. Or after finals week is over, whichever.

That is all.

Go now to Tequila Mockingbird and read today's post. I don't do this reference thing often (and her blog really is worth reading regularly) but this story I think is SO cool. And if you're an emotional sap like me, the one right before it is also very good.

This afternoon/evening, I'm off to my folks' house for dinner, as is the custom. And bright and early Friday morning, Chris and I are heading out to camp for two days. I'm bringing homework with me, as I have rather a lot of it. Tons, really. As in, "Jesus Christ, my head is about to explode with the imposing workload." I have to write an 8 page research paper on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, spruce up/fabricate entries for my writing portfolio, and prepare a researched presentation on Colin Powell, all for Monday. I'm so stressed over it. My sleep patterns are all screwed up--I keep waking up startled to find out it's two hours past when my alarm went off. My eating habits are terrible; I'm eating bowlfuls of pasta and parmesan approximately every five minutes, but have absolutely no protein in my diet. I'm considering skipping my afternoon classes to go to the zoo. It's very, very tempting. Rachel would have gone with me. She also would have made animal noises and skipped around and giggled with me. Alas, she left yesterday for Montana, leaving me to be productive. Grr. I definitely think the quarter needs to be over already.

On the plus side, I got three essays back in my politics and literature classes. FDR: B+; Nixon: A; Tennyson: A-. Not bad at all.

I run on schedules. I have my English classes on Tuesday and Thursday and my politics class on Mondays and Wednesdays. I go visit my folks on Thursday nights. Even my weekends are predictible. So with this in mind, consider how much it throws me off to have a three-day week. I was at camp through Monday, and I'm going to be back there first thing Friday. It's Wednesday, but it really feels like Tuesday. And yet...

Gah. I slept for ten hours last night in an attempt to reset the internal clock. Failed.
