It's 73 degrees outside, and despite my attempts to manage the heat and encourage good airflow, it's even hotter in my apartment. Five minutes ago, I heard the guy next door, who's sitting out on his deck, call out, "Baby, put on some of that sweet reggae." She did, and now we're all enjoying Bob Marley.

Summer has arrived.

In a period of 24 hours, I broke both my sunglasses AND my watch. Since then, it has been sunny every single day and I now never know what time it is.

On the plus side, though, I can now eliminate my watch tan. Yeah, in my dreams.

I've been working about twice as much lately, which is why I haven't been around much. Strangely, though it's been two weeks since I posted, I'm not so sure I have anything to say.

My Bible study group yesterday had an hour-and-a-half discussion on what the Bible has to say about sex, dating, and marriage. It was much too short; there was so much left to say when I had to cut out early to go swing dancing.

That's the other interesting thing: Chris and I are taking swing dance lessons. It's really fun, and I'm starting to remember a lot of what I learned my freshman year.

OK, it's back to the homework for me. Or as a good friend used to say, gotta get back to my oars.

For those of you wondering where I disappeared to, the answer is "into a deep dark whole of wedding-planning-ness." Of the list of things in my last post, we got all of them done except invitations and gift registry. Since we got back, we've been pushing hard on invitations...but we're also both taking 18 credits and working about twice as many hours as we did last quarter. So we've been pretty ridiculously busy. The good news is that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We put out about 100 invitations yesterday and the day before, and there's a stack of about 15 more that are addressed but still need to be stuffed and stamped. We found out that we don't know our friends' addresses...but we're working on tracking them down.

In other news, a kid in my political thought class used the word "cocksucker" in responding to a question posed by the teacher. Here's the crazy part: he was referring to Joe Lieberman. Who gets that fired up about Joe Lieberman? He's about the least controversial politician ever. Sure, nobody actually likes him, but I didn't think people hated him either. And the remark was totally unprovoked! We weren't even talking about Lieberman, or about conservative Democrats, or about Jewish politicians. It was a totally surreal experience.

And the quote of the day: "Serial killers are definitely my number two kind of criminal."
